16.30pm in February using my white dog as a model (rather than the black one), slightly challenging getting him to sit still in the street without a lead...These were all shot at f/4.

Side lighting - sun to right |
1/350s - defined shadows on the dog - possibly a bit over exposed on the lit parts.

Frontal lighting |
Black shiny patches over the eye reflecting a lot of light - also problem of the photographer's shadow - was standing to the side to avoid putting shadow on the dog.

Sun in the view finder not a problem as I am taller than the dog and so waws pointing the camera down.
Crouching low - you can see the sun is brighter on the ground - catching horizontal rays - dog is edge light all round his body with clear definition against the shade.
